Customer orders can be created and processed at the register or at any back room terminal. Orders can be immediately shipped—placing that inventory on layaway so it won’t be sold to another customer. Or orders can be kept open until a later date. If the customer is tax exempt or is entitled to a special customer discount, the order automatically takes that into consideration. Customer history is recorded with each order/sale so you can keep track of who buys what. That information can be used to target mailings. It points out customers who take advantage of sale items only. It tells you which customers are spending the most money. [back to top]

Check Verification: How many times has a customer passed a bad check? You can handle check verification one of two ways. If you purchase a check/credit card reader, you can scan the check for approval. If you don't purchase a check/credit card reader, you'll accept the check manually. If the check bounces, flag the customer as having passed a bounced check or mark him as a credit risk. The register will not accept another check from that customer until he has made good on the bounced check and you allow another check to be accepted. [back to top]

Age Verification: With all the other things to worry about with your business, the last thing you need is the pressure of worrying about underage patrons trying to purchase alcohol or tobacco from your store.  Since all of a person’s information is stored on the magnetic stripe of their driver’s license, Spirits2000 can verify the person’s age immediately.  The cashier only has to verify the person’s picture.  [back to top]

Alpha Lookup: Although you have the ability to scan everything at the register, items can be found alphabetically. This feature comes in very handy when creating customer orders. If a customer is phoning in an order, the cashier doesn’t have to take the time to look up item numbers on a printed report.  For example, a customer may come to the register looking for several cases of beer. In many stores, the cashier will phone the stock clerk in the back room. The clerk will bring the cases to the front door or even to the customer’s car. The products won’t be scanned into the register. While the customer is waiting for the beer, the cashier can alphabetically lookup the items and complete the transaction.  [back to top]

Container Deposits: Cashiers don’t have to have access to a discount key. They don’t have to know what items are discountable or how much to discount. You can set up automatic discount codes. A discount code could be as simple as giving a 10% discount on a full case. Or you can get fancy and give various discounts if the customer “mixes and matches.”  [back to top]

Automatic Discounts: Cashiers don’t have to have access to a discount key. They don’t have to know what items are discountable or how much to discount. You can set up automatic discount codes. A discount code could be as simple as giving a 10% discount on a full case. Or you can get fancy and give various discounts if the customer “mixes and matches.”  No matter what your discounting policies, Spirits can be tailored to handle them.  [back to top]

System Redundancy: All registers are smart registers. Under normal circumstances, all registers are working on-line with the computer. This means the main computer is updated with every sale. The reason why you have smart or intelligent registers is so they can operate “stand alone” in case the main computer goes down. All registers are updated automatically throughout the day with the information needed in order to function as a register should the main computer ever go down. At the same time, all sales done at the register since the last update is automatically retrieved and processed immediately so you don't have an “end of day” procedure to perform. The server polls each register every five seconds!

The smart register is one of the most important features to our system. If you don’t have this ability, imagine the level of disruption to your business! First of all, how would you possibly keep the lines moving without it? You’d have to pull out an old manual register or calculator and a printed price list. Even if you could conceivably handle sales this way, your inventory counts are ruined! The entire store would have to be recounted when the main computer is back up and running. Surely, an impossible scenario!  [back to top]

Suspend/Resume Sale: Each register has the ability to suspend or put sales on hold. A cashier may be at “AMOUNT TENDERED” when the customer decides he wants to walk around the store and look at some other items. Or perhaps the customer left his wallet in the car. You don’t have to void the sale and reenter it when the customer comes back to the register. And if that customer never comes back, you don’t have to do anything to eliminate that sale. It was never a sale to begin with so inventory was never deducted. Easy!  [back to top]

Customer Loyalty/Frequent Support:  Courtesy cards are a nice option especially if most of your sales involve identifying a customer at the beginning of the sale. It's a small plastic card with a bar code on it that identifies the customer. You can scan the card and the customer’s name comes up automatically at the register. Not only does it identify the customer, it acts as another way of advertising. Every time the customer looks at the card, they are looking at you!  [back to top]
